Druid's Leap PUSH5a6c0b861fbc

The Gorge is a relatively deep chasm, cut by the river in the terrain, and it is on the border to Windclan.  The river flows through it to Druid's Leap, and then through the plains. Apprentices are forbidden to go near it. Druid's leap is on the border between Windclan and Riverclan. It is a waterfall that flows through a gorge and into Riverclan's river. Apprentices and kits are forbidden to come here, because of the danger of falling off the gorge cliff and to your death.

Druid's Leap Empty
PostSubject: Re: Druid's Leap   Druid's Leap EmptyThu Jun 05, 2014 9:24 pm

Windclanners weren't known for their swimming ability; but all cats needed water to survive. Which was why they were greatful for Newleaf showers, so long as it didn't wash away most of their camp in the process. It had been relatively dry as of late, however - which was bothersome for everyone.

Fogstar, relatively fresh to her name and position as the clan's leader, found herself doing a task she hadn't done since she'd been an apprentice; mostly because the trainee members were out with their mentors, taking advantage of the warm day to catch sleepy prey. Fogstar didn't mind the occasional lowly task; even if she'd truthfully much rather enjoy sunning herself on a dusty rock.

Leaping carefully up the rocky side towards the falls, her claws digging into the slippery moss that coated the stones, she shivered as the turbulent falls tumbled beside her, misting her with a fine spray of water. Making sure she wasn't about to tumble into it herself, she began kneeding the rocks with her front paws, tearing up wet, springy moss under her pads. Her elderly and sickly clannmates would surely enjoy the coolness of the damp moss; especially considering how dry their nests had been, as of late. That very night she'd though she'd fallen asleep on a hedgehog by mistake.

Taking a moment, she bent down and lapped at the rock herself, taking in a cool, earthy sip. But she immediately froze as she realized she wasn't nearly as alone as she'd originally assumed.

The River has never let up it's flow for moons

Coalstar

So why should I?

Watching the waterfall was relaxing, and the incessant thrumming of the water onto the rocks left Coalstar to doze off in the warm green leaf sun. The skies were clear and blue, but it left the river plain without shade. However, the Riverclan leader had managed to find himself a rocky overhang in the Gorge. As the water level grew lower than ever, nooks and crannies opened up for the cats willing to get wet. However, the fish population had dwindled from the extreme heat. The charcoal bengal sat up with a sigh. His tail curled around stocky legs, muscled from the constant swims and dives Riverclan cats took. He hadn't noticed any other presence, until the scent of Windclan was brought towards him by a weak moor wind. His amber eyes turned on a small gray pelt hidden behind rocks. The cat had picked out the familiar scent of Fogstar. The small, but feisty, leader of Windclan. His broad head tipped to the side almost in a question. 'Now how could that happen? Two leaders don't "accidentally" bump into each other. Especially alone.' He raised an eyebrow skeptically, but didn't vocally question those small chances. 'Oh for Starclan's sake! Why did it have to be her? She's always so defensive of her size. Practically anything could set her off.' He thought with an exasperated frown. Padding forward and jumping gracefully onto large boulders set into the riverbed, the sleek furred cat approached Fogstar. He kept to his side, not exactly wanting to set off the bomb that was Windclan's leader. Arriving on a solid outcropping, Coalstar dipped his head in greeting. "Fogstar. How have you and your clan been lately?" Maybe intolerance sparked in his eye, but he closed them and tipped his head with a thin smile.

PostSubject: Re: Druid's Leap   Druid's Leap EmptyFri Jun 06, 2014 7:44 am

By accident, she shredded the greenery underfoot into even smaller bits as her claws flexed and her muscles tensed. Even if the other cat hadn't shown any promise of attack - and in fact was being quite civil - Fogstar had several years' experience telling her you didn't let your guard down for anything. Not to mention; this wasn't just any other warrior. Coalstar was the equally esteemed leader of Riverclan, older than she was by some moons, and powerful. And she had to wonder his intentions on their shared border. She knew her own reasons, but surely his cats needn't come all the way out here to escape the heat and collect water.

"Coalstar." She inclined her head slightly, her tone neutral although her compact body betrayed her somewhat, tail lashing and body rigid in preparedness. "We have been well. The rabbits do enjoy Newleaf; and luckily for us it seems to make them supremely lazy." If it weren't for the fact that a few of the little creeks that tumbled into the clan's territory were all but muddy streaks, Windclan would be a paradise. But of course she wasn't going to mention anything that would make it seem like her clan was struggling, when they certainly weren't. Starclan forbid the tom would think they were suffering, and were ripe for attack. Or perhaps worse, to offer them pity.

"I trust that Riverclan is well, and yourself as well?" She continued, throwing his own questions back at him. It was only fair after all. And perhaps she could learn why he was here, so close to her territory though so far not a step over the line. And to learn if he was indeed alone, as the breeze blew more in his favor for scenting than hers.

wysteriaefflorescence was pacing towards the gorge. the waterfall made quite the noise anyway, so locating it was less than a challenge. he smiled at his own effectiveness. he hadn't at all followed his leader there, but he was still nothing close to being surprised when he found her there. "hey there. it's quite high up here." he commented casually arriving next to her. higher than you. he chuckled to himself. he could be so funny. then he noticed the tension in the atmosphere, clawing at not one but two leaders, now how could he have missed that. because there was coalstar in skin and bones, seemingly ready to glare at them. "cAN'T we all just get along?"

OOC: Fogstar is younger by 6 moons. Coalstar is 40 moons. I apologize for any mix-up I might have caused...
Also, Wysteriae, your biography has not yet been accepted, therefore, you are not allowed to role-play.

Coalstar

So why should I?

The cat's smile grew wider, almost in amusement, at the younger cat's reaction. Her entire body seemed rigid with tension, but he was impressed by her unusually calm voice. It still didn't change his opinion on the other clans. It just called for some of his respect. Still, the question hung in the air as of how two leaders had ended up meeting on a border alone. His ears twitched, unsure, as the water slapped against the mossy boulders just a tail length below him. Her satisfactory answer pulled him out of his daydream. To be honest, the answer didn't surprise him. No clan wanted to show weakness, even if they really were in dire need of help. The charcoal bengal frowned inwardly, but kept his conflicting smile pasted to his muzzle. "Of course, Greenleaf should be a time of bountiful prey and packed nurseries." He replied casually. "Sooner or later, those tiny mews are going to drive me crazy." He added with a small chuckle. The tom sat down and curled his long tail around his large paws, as his amber eyes studied the wiry, cream she-cat. His focus lingered on the shredded moss under her paws. '...They're going all the way out here for water?' But his eyes quickly darted back to the frosty blue eyes of Fogstar. She had now shot back, asking how Riverclan was. Coalstar raised an eyebrow as if surprised at the question, but a hint of a smile edged onto his muzzle. "Why wouldn't we be alright? The river is still ever flowing, and so is the fish. More than we can even eat." He said twirling his tail in the air beside him.

((Prophecy? Please? *begs Lumeo* please? It's two leaders meeting all alone, almost as if Starclan intervened.))

Splashpool padded through the marshy area she called home, her eyes searching the small patches of underbrush that Riverclan owned. Her ears perked a bit as she scented a bit of watermint tucked away. 'Hm... We're good on watermint right now, but it'll be useful in the future.' Placing a pebble on the sandy shore near the watermint as a placemarker, she padded onward only to momentarily stop as she smelled something she wasn't exactly expecting on the small expedition for herbs. Looking upwards towards the top of the gorge and smiling inwardly, she could just make out two figures, which her nose identified as Coalstar, her somewhat stubborn leader, and Fogstar, the equally stubborn but much more defensive she-cat Windclan called their leader. 'That's interesting. Obviously not a forbidden relationship, as they're leaders, for Starclan's sake, but I doubt that's just coincidence.' Perhaps Starclan was involved?

All thoughts of herbs pushed to the back of her mind, she padded up to the two leaders after a few minutes of walking along the riverbank. "Hello, Coalstar, Fogstar." Splashpool dipped her head respectfully to both of them in turn. She noticed a bit of shredded moss at Fogstar's claw tips. 'Are they having problems from the drought? Riverclan is by no means suffering from it, but if she went this far for a bit of damp moss...' Realizing she had zoned out for a moment, she focused her gaze on the two leaders before sitting down and wrapping her tail around herself, being sure not to accidentally swim across the river into Windclan territory. She never really understood why Riverclan even patrolled this border so often, as the stringy Windclan cats would most certainly be washed into the unforgiving gorge below if they tried an invasion. 'Though I suppose that's not really my concern, as I'm a medicine cat.' Though it was her duty to guide her clan in way of omens, prophecies, and injuries, there wasn't much she could do against enemy invasions. "So, if you don't mind me asking, why are both of you here? Not accusing either of you, but it is a little odd, isn't it? I trust Windclan is faring well, Fogstar?"

Coalstar

So why should I?

"Hmm?" The spotted tom turned to hear the familiar voice of Riverclan's medicine cat. He greeted her with a soft smile and a dip of his head, "Splashpool!" He mewed, calling her over with a whip of his long tail, but before he could ask her a question, she asked him one. Well, him and Fogstar obviously, but she seemed more interested in their intentions at the moment. He raised an eyebrow jokingly and replied with a chuckle. "We don't mind. It is a little more than odd. Any cat would question it." He said almost chastisingly, but his smile was still there. "We were just conversing about how great Greenleaf has been to us." He turned to the gray marked she-cat as if looking for proof. "Isn't that right, Fogstar?" He said tipping his head almost mockingly at the Windclanner. 'By most standards this would be rude, but here, manipulation is an asset. You must do anything to keep your authority here.' He thought, convincing himself to continue with the facade.

Druid's Leap Empty
PostSubject: Re: Druid's Leap   Druid's Leap EmptyMon Jun 09, 2014 7:49 pm

ooc | Ack...WHY did I think he was younger? I swear I read the profile and it said he was 25 moons. Ignore me, I'll go back and change that. And sorry it took me this long to reply. Swear I did it days ago. Computer hates me.

Bountiful prey and packed nurseries. Wasn't that the truth. Fogstar grudgingly admitted that Coalstar had a way with words. Though outwardly, her face scrunched up in a odd expression that seemed stuck between a smirk and a grimace. "Certainly. Windclan's dens have never rung so loud with the...noise of such small, eager young cats." She had tried in vain to find a nicer word for it than 'noise', but honestly couldn't find one. Surely kits had changed since she was so little; she certainly had never been such a nuisance for her clanmates.

In all, she had begun to relax ever so slightly, when a second cat made their appearance. She of course recognized Splashpool as the Riverclan medicine cat, and not exactly a warrior escort, but nonetheless the hint of ease was gone from her body in an instant. "Splashpool. Pleasant day, isn't it." Now why are you here, she thought, and how many other cats are planning to surprise me this afternoon?

"We certainly were; and as far as I was concerned I was answering perfectly well for myself, was I not?" Her tone slightly biting, a hidden note that she did not need Coalstar to answer for her in anything. He may have been older than here, but they were on the same level as leaders of their respective clans. "The hunting has been good, and our queens particularly healthy. Though I'm sure you must have known about that already..." Medicine cats did gossip among each other, getting along much better than any other inter-clan relationships. She had never asked directly, but knew that her's must have shared the clan's news with their brethren the healing arts. She just hoped they hadn't explained too much about the possible water crisis, let alone to Riverclan.

"It does seem strange, doesn't it. That the three of us should find ourself here at the same time. " She mused. "Of course, we tend to stay away from the borders unless we have business, or to enjoy a bit of a cooldown. But surely, with your river...." It wouldn't be the same for them.

OOC: It's ok. It might just be the forum... : \

The River has never let up it's flow for moons

Coalstar

So why should I?

The charcoal bengal studied the two she-cats alongside him on the border. Both had their own distinct way of acting. Or at least from Coalstar's view, but neither were very well known to him. Splashpool, a distinct aura was always around her. Her ambition for being a great medicine cat he guessed. The fierceness of that goal emanated from her, overwhelming her clanmates. Fogstar was a feisty, but dignified cat. She had earned his respect for keeping up in her duties and eventually making it to leader at her age. A season stood between the two leaders, and her ambition to prove herself burned like a bonfire.
Thinking of himself, not much came to his mind. It was difficult to describe one self, and he had given up moons ago. With an inward shrug, he brought himself back to the conversation. The creme colored she-cat had answered hesitantly with the noise in her camp. It didn't sound like a secretive hesitance, since the she-cat usually answered with a firm disposition to everything, always showing off her self-confidence. He couldn't think of anything else it could be. He couldn't read minds, the best he could do were verbal and nonverbal actions. You could learn quite a bit just by watching a cat stalk a piece of prey. Their stance, the amount of concentration put into the hunt, and their eyes.
The stocky cat dragged himself out of his day dream and pricked his ears as Fogstar continued to speak. She sounded bitter at his earlier words. Manipulative, yes, but not at all productive. He answered with a small smile, stifling the laugh that bubbled in his throat. "Of course you were, Fogstar." He waved his tail playfully. "No one said anything about wrong words." He added blinking deep amber eyes back at her crystal blue ones. He decided to keep dirty play off his plate now. Either he had more of a rusty tongue instead of a silver one, or he was just too easy to read.
The oddness of their meeting finally entered the casual chat between two leaders and a medicine cat. 'That took quite a bit of time to come up in conversation.' He thought frowning only inwardly. "I suppose Starclan just wants to mess with us. Hm?" He said looking for agreement on the other two faces around him. Fogstar continued with her words, identifying the very small possibility of the situation actually occurring, ever.
He exchanged a glance with Splashpool before answering the gray marked cat. "Like I've said before, the nurseries are quite full. Leaders never catch a break." He said with in an amused mew.

Druid's Leap Empty
PostSubject: Re: Druid's Leap   Druid's Leap EmptyTue Jun 10, 2014 11:28 am

Ooc: Smile Totally considering a crazy prophecy, though it would be problematic that we have 5 or 6 members, one or two of which that haven't even posted. Seriously, though. PROPHECY TIME! I'm sorry if this makes you mad, and I'll edit it out if necessary.

Splashpool smiled knowingly at Fogstar, her words of bountiful food and prospering queens very true. She had also heard about the problems regarding water, though she wasn't really one to wish for interclan wars. She had heard- and lived through- enough of the Riverclan-Thunderclan war to know that it wasn't really worth it. 'Oh, ever-defensive Fogstar. I'm not here to harm you, and I'm certainly not going to plot an attack. Is that what you expect of me? It's every medicine cat's dream to not need to use herbs in a worthless battle with another clan.' "I was seeing if I could find any more herbs for later use. After all, my stocks are overflowing, and it's good to know where to find them if I were to need them." Splashpool studied the river for a moment, her eyes glazing over instantaneously.

"M-Mintleaf? Why am I in Starclan? Is something wrong that I don't know about?" she hurriedly asked, concern racing through her. "Is there-" However, her words were cut off by Mintleaf's kind but slightly harsh voice. "Splashpool, Splashpool. Won't you ever learn? Ask questions after I speak." Grinning in an almost mocking way, he continued. "Now, listen carefully. The coal shall rise along with fog. One more shall come to power, hated by the stars." Splashpool's eyes gleamed with questions, but Mintleaf vanished and she plummeted back to Druid's Leap.

Lifting her head towards the two leaders who were probably watching her in confusion, she muttered what she believed to be a prophecy before continuing the conversation in a more worried tone. "I suppose Starclan does want to mess with us, with us three meeting by chance all at the same time." Shaking her head to clear the storm of thoughts racing through her mind, she continued. "Well, I suppose I'll resume my search, as I'm sure you both have matters to discuss without a medicine cat rudely interrupting you." Standing up, her fur a bit ruffled, she began to pad away slowly and quietly in case they wished to know what her zoning out was all about.

PostSubject: Re: Druid's Leap   Druid's Leap EmptyWed Jun 18, 2014 1:40 pm

She supposed it might have indeed been a little foolish, to be so worried about one leader and a Medicine Cat when for as far as she had known, these past few moons had left them in peace from all the other clans. But caution was her nature; it had served her well for several years, and she wasn't about to let down her guard for a moment, even if it seemed unlikely that she'd need to keep it up. She was used to keeping things close to her heart; and maybe it would have helped to have one of her own clanmates at her side to ease her worries. But such was not the case.

"I suppose..." She mused, reluctant to be the first to leave but her unease growing by the moment for this possibly fortuitous or disastrous meeting. No sooner had the words gone out of her mouth than Splashpool seemed to grow distant. Fogstar, of course, wasn't exactly familiar with Riverclan's practices, but she had occasionally seen a similar expression, crossing the gaze of her own cat.

"What's wrong with her?!" She snapped, worry making her tone even more abrasive than usual. She felt a prickle of unease rise along the fur arching her spine. "Does she do this often?" She asked Coalstar, waiting for the Medicine Cat to break out of...whatever it was. It seemed to happen fairly quickly, but she remained on edge and silent. She was Coalstar's clanmmate, not her own - so she begrudgingly gave him the chance first to question her.

ooc: I both hate and love work. I'm so sorry this took so long.

OOC: Sorry for not being able to reply before. Short notice vacation plans were recently put out of commission.
You my dear Mallow, are fine. Work is of the extreme importance. You need income to pay for energy bills. Without power, there is no Internet. Fufufu...
As for the prophecy, I'm fine if we do it. No worries! I'm just wondering about the prophecy itself. I'm curious of what's to come.

Coalstar

So why should I?

Splashpool's diversion of her attention cause unease to gnaw at his belly once more. Her cold aura clouded the atmosphere with tension. Fogstar had quickly picked up on it, and was questioning what was occurring in the medicine cat's mind. He was curious as well, since he had nothing to explain the odd occurrence, but the she-cat snapped out of her trance. Dilated pupils returned to normal, and flexed muscles relaxed. The charcoal colored cat released a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. He blinked at the she-cat's retreating form slowly. His crinkled eyes clouded with worry, but turned to the creme colored leader with a carefree smile. "I'm sure she is perfectly fine, Fogstar." He said calmly. "Our odd meeting may have shocked her enough that it needed to catch up to her seconds later." He added with a gleeful laugh. His curled tail showed his almost overwhelming curiosity, but he kept it in line behind his short, stocky body. "She'll be fine with some sleep and prey. Shock wouldn't be on my list of rare things." He said standing up with a small grunt. "I suppose it's best for us to return to our camps." He said, excusing himself. "Our clanmates might be getting worried." His amber eyes flashed. "Suspicion might even be on their thoughts." He leapt off the rocky outcropping onto another boulder and shot the female leader a smile. "And may Starclan be with you."

OOC: I have to keep you two guessing, do I not? >Very Happy In all reality, I have no idea who the third cat is. Figured it should involve you two, though! Smile

Splashpool sighed a bit in relief as she padded away from the two leaders, though she was still rather anxious about what Mintleaf had told her. The coal and fog were obviously Coalstar and Fogstar, but the second part of the prophecy confused her. Her ears perked as she heard an extremely soft thud, probably Coalstar heading back to camp. Though she herself was a decent amount ahead of him, she picked up her pace a bit and entered camp a few minutes later.

Quickly padding into her den, ignoring the few concerned glances she got, (even though we're the only two riverclanners) she began resorting her herbs. It helped calm her nerves, not to mention they'd gotten a bit out of order. Occasionally glancing out of the den entrance in hopes of spotting Coalstar, she continued sorting the herbs until they were all perfectly sorted. Putting them back in their according places, she laid down in her nest and closed her eyes in an attempt to sleep. However, she was too anxious to fall asleep, and she padded out of her den. Sighing, she grabbed a small fish from the fresh kill pile and began eating it, watching the entrance to camp. She still wanted to talk to Coalstar, but at the same time she was extremely worried about how he would react.

So the she-cat herself was not even going to explain her...oddness? A lapse in concentration so serious must mean something, and Fogstar was already feeling the tension of this oh-so strange coincidence arching through the air as it was. Coalstar seemed to think it was nothing; but, she could tell. She wasn't born yesterday, even if she was the younger leader.

"I understand." She mewed, inclining her head. But it was clear she remained suspicious, as her eyes darted towards Splashpool. "Well, then let me help remedy her...oddness. I'm certain I'm needed back in camp by now. A leader is always needed for something it other. It seems the clan life is destined to run us off our paws."

She kept her voice calm and collected, but if they didn't think she was about to dash back to her camp to consult her own Medicine Cat. They were fooling themselves. Collecting her moss in an easier to carry pile with her front paws, she mumbled a final greeting. "May Starclan continue to shine on us both." And picked up the moss in her strong jaws. With quick bounds up the rock, barely stumbling against the slick surface, she was out of sight across her own territory within moments.

ooc: If only she had one. I see she has a deputy, though XD. Ah well, patience is a virtue. And thanks for understanding, guys. Starting my dream job but it's all 'lets play screwy with your hours because of training' month

The River has never let up it's flow for moons

Coalstar

Leader of Riverclan

So why should I?

His tail twirled in the air as he loped after his medicine cat. His paws thumped across the ground, as he bounded towards their reed filled camp. Sunlight blazed across the river plain, and his dark pelt slowly heated up. It felt uncomfortably warm, but Coalstar resorted to just ignoring it and instead focusing on Splashpool. His amber eyes followed her form as she padded towards camp. He raised an eyebrow in a mix of surprise and curiosity. A dubious look had been pasted onto his face.
